Hi Everyone!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am originally from
Southern California where I attended California State University,
UCLA, and Pacific Oaks Teacher's College, where I earned a diversified
degree in human development, education, and special education, with
minors in speech pathology, psychology, and behavior modification.
I earned Masters in Special Education from Grand Canyon University,
and I am now a doctoral student and North Central University. Over
the years, in addition to teaching, I have also been a foster parent
to a number of children with various disabilities.
I am a member of the National Teachers Union and the Association
for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Besides working
in the classroom with kids, I have taught older folks too at Pasadena
City College, Pacific Oaks College, and Central Arizona College,
in the field of education, preparing students to become teachers.
I have worked for the State of Arizona as a liaison between foster
parent agencies and schools, helping to develop behavior management
techniques, allowing students to be successful in the classroom.
I have also been responsible for restructuring the behavior intervention
programs being used by several State agencies.
Okay, now it's bragging time! Some of my awards include KNIX and
Fulton Homes' Teacher of the Week, Learning for Excellence Exemplary
Program Award from Creighton School District, Arizona State Service
Award from Governor Bruce Babbit in both 1983 and 1984, and I was
nominated for the Disney Hand National Teacher's Award.
I like to publish too. Some of my work includes a collection of
poetry, which won the National Poetry Competition in Washington
D.C., a study guide for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, a New Musical,
published on the World Wide Web, and stories and worksheets that
teach reading and math.
In my spare time I like to write lyrics to songs and work in theatre
arts. I have produced several concerts and theatrical productions
in the Phoenix area and I am regularly involved with religious music
in many churches throughout the Valley.
Thanks for visiting with me!
Grace Crowley, M.Ed.
